Tie the Knot Thursday - Wedding Dress Bliss

Chiffon, Tulle, Lace, Satin, Cotton… whatever your chosen fabric is for your wedding dress it has a magical feeling on your skin and in your heart when you see/try on the dress you fall in love with. I’m still on the hunt for mine, I’ve enlisted Dave’s mother and sister (and hopefully my mother and sister if they can make it) to go wedding dress shopping in the next few months. So… in that spirit I’ve chosen today’s post to be all about the dress that you’ll say “I do” in.

There is something beautiful about this dress, it reminds me of a dress we would try on as little girls, made simply by our own hands with images of running through a field of wild flowers. I love the simple lines and natural beauty

Tie the Knot Thursday - 9/15

Once in a blue moon, that is such a true statement when it comes to mine and Dave’s relationship and marriage. We were perfectly happy just meeting someone to date on our nights without our children and then leaving the “serious” stuff up to other couples. Then we met face to face, it was one of those times that you just read about, I know... it sounds corny but it’s true. We were brought together for a reason that neither of us understood, so when we realized that Sept. 1, 2012 was going to be a full moon AND a blue moon none the less, we chose that date by the stars and the moon to get married under.

Tie the Knot Thursday - Simple Bride

The wedding is coming together slowly; I want Colorado forest, romantic fabrics, artistic ways to remember my friends and family. I want subtle, sweet and a Colorado reception with simple breezes and a lot of laughs. Yes… I think I’ve figured out our wedding, now I just need location, time and everything that comes with it 66 weeks in advance!

Tie the Knot Thursday - Blushing Bride

67 weeks away… and I’m still up in the air about my wedding plans. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got more ideas than I can formalize, I just have no idea what I want to do with them. Planning is fun though, it’s nice to look at things and dream.

When I went to my facial a few weeks back the aesthetician told me that exfoliating scrubs help the lotion penetrate your skin easier. I’ve been a nightly exfoliating freak ever since, I am sure that using a mask to remove the impurities helps even more and what could be better than a strawberry masque? I am sure that Dave would love the scent of this better than some of the other creations I come up with.

Tie the Knot Thusday - 4/7/11

I learned many years ago that there are over 300 unique varieties of honey in the US. Ever since then I’ve been in love with honey. Trying it from regions of the world, different states and even combinations of simple varieties so I can say I’ve tried most of them. Bees are amazing creatures; they work hard all year and in the end, the come out with something beautiful. It’s a lot like planning a wedding, hard work before something beautiful comes out in the end.

I think these candle pails of beeswax candles are really cute! They would be lovely with a ribbon around them in the center of a tablescape for a farmhouse wedding. Cute, creative and one of a kind for guests to take home, or keep them and put them on the porch in the summer!

Tie the Knot Thursday - 4/1/11

Okay, okay, I’ll let ya’ll in on a secret that I’ve been keeping. It’s not a huge secret but for some of you it’ll help for you to “plan” and not make any vacations or events during this time. The wedding will be sometime in September or October of 2012.


For my beloved high school and childhood friends, I will be having a reception in Texas sometime during October of 2012 for those of you that can’t travel.

Whew… there, I said it. It’s official since I said it out loud right?

I love this idea. It’s cute for decorating, and I can change what I put in here after the wedding of course! In fact, we almost threw out a similar coat hanger, now I’m going to take it and sand it, paint it then put it in the hallway. I need something to decorate that space!

But if we do have a ring bearer it’ll be Jacob and for the pillow, I want this to hold the “rings of everafter”… Hmmm… perhaps I’ll get that sewn into the pillow.

Tie the Knot Thursday - 3/24 (White Weddings)

  

There is something about a white wedding that is classic, elegant and beautiful. Not saying that the bright colors aren't those things, but a white wedding, with white gloves and veil is iconic in the wedding world. That being said, I'm not a white wedding kind of girl, but these items should find themselves in my wedding none the less.

Fruit is sweet, full of life and a reminder that, like kiwi, it's always what's on the inside that counts. So these love pears are adorable! They are full of LOVE and made by hand. What a beautiful center table setting, betcha I could get my cake made out of pears and tie the whole thing together.

I love butterflies and when I was first planning this wedding that was the theme, bright red and sparkling butterflies. I've since moved away from the idea but once I saw these I thought they'd be perfect on the cake. Yes, they are wine glass butterflies but.. they WANT to hang out on my cake, trust me!

I love this necklace. I want it to wear after the wedding and pass it on to my daughters when they marry. I also love the artists words "The scratches are intentional, What heart do you know without scratches?"

No.. I was not one to dream about my wedding as a little girl. Yes, I did pretend to be a bride when I found a bit of tulle lying around. So when I felt this funny twinge today looking at veils I realized it. I want a veil. Not a modesty veil over my face, but something in my hair, something beautiful and... bride-like. After a while of looking I think I finally found it. Kinda pretty right?

I am not sure if I can even write after seeing the back to this dress. See it?... That is SOOO what I'm looking for in a back, I think I'm in love. AND it's eco-friendly. *faints*

Tie the Knot Thursday - 3/17

S'mores, a tent with a firefly lighting the way and the smell of wood burning in a warm circle of rocks reminds me of my childhood at summer camp, my first time camping alone as a rebellious and strong female (albeit a tad foolish) and now, the way it smells in our backyard when Dave and I start up the fire on a cool spring night.

 What if I had moss, some small flowers and a Hurricane lantern on the center of the tables instead of large arrangements of flowers that no one can see over. I want my guests to see one another in the candle light of a flickering flame.. there is something romantic, welcoming and even better candle light hides ALL your flaws.

How cute is this for my little summertime girls to wear with their dresses! My little toddlers are prissy tomboys which I LOVE. They will play in mud puddles in their dresses and honestly... dirt cleans off. All my kids know how to pitch a tent, get dirty and come home to enjoy a good warm shower. Enjoy the little things (like dirt and worms)....Wearing a dress and picking up sticks.. as long as you don't hit your brother with them, it's alright by me!

I am in love, move over Dave... this soap might take your place. Allow me to give you a tidbit of their description: "2 slices of 'life on marshmallows' handmade soap, scented with the delicious aroma of sweet, sticky campfire smores, and a trail of activated charcoal.". My darling friends... for my wedding gift, I'll be forever indebted to you if you give me ONE slice of life that smells like this for my shower. Oh My Gosh... I'm in love!

This is what love is all about, wrapped up in a cake topper. If you can camp with the wo/man you love, you can conquer almost anything!!

Tie the Knot Thursday - 3/3/2011 - Etsy Wedding Candy Love

Love is so sweet…. So is candy.

So why can’t you mix love, candy and a party. Yea… I plan on it! Get ready for a sweet wedding party on my behalf… here are some totally cute ideas I found this week on Etsy.

In case you miss the candy bar, here is a sign… literally... a sign that says, “Come get your sweets, your treats, your mouth hugs” …. Well, not in so many words but you get the drift.

This would be a really cute way to decorate the candy table! It’s better than flowers and she’ll find a way to get it to match your wedding design. I LOVE this idea….

I’d love to have this on the table to let everyone know what is laid out before them. So if they have allergies (like peanuts, egg whites, etc) they don’t get into the delicacies.

Ice cream cones without the mess of ice cream. My daughters would love to eat these and I like the idea I won’t be worried about their beautiful dresses during the reception. Yes… my Type A personality would be worrying about their dresses… it’s what I do.

This is how I want my wedding described… something made from humorous fairy tales mixed with laughing gas.

From the bottom of my wedding to the top, I want things that’ll make people smile… Dave has the most amazing sense of humor and I’ve never met a person that didn’t say to me, “Man… he’s a funny guy”. So, this edition of “Tie the Knot Thursday” is going to be dedicated to the funny side of life.

What about these cute appliqués to my shoes? Yes… I’ll be in some snazzy heels; Yes… these will be attached to the bottom, a bit of funny with a touch of flash.

Puzzles, toys, candy and soda pop, Remember being a kid? Remember laughing and playing all the time, a marriage should be full of that so there’s no reason for the wedding not to be. Pomp and Circumstance are great, but who wants to look at a photo of “Why so Serious?”…. I am marrying my best friend… I’m supposed to be happy about it, so here’s a great addition to the tables for the kids and the kids at heart.

These are so cute to put in cupcakes or little homemade candies on the treat table. These will put a smile on the face of anyone who fell in love with the magic of “Alice in Wonderland”

What a fun gift this would be to send to Dave right before we walk down the isle, a way to remind him everyday that he’s the reason I believe in love, even if it takes a little bit to read it! Creative right? Love this…..

I love the vintage look; it helps me feel like the love I found so late in life has actually been around years before this. And with the way Dave make’s me feel… it’s like I’ve been in love with him my whole life. When we finally say “I Do” and we are home once again.. I’d love to have these displayed above our bed as a reminder that we are indeed… the Mr. and Mrs. of the house.

A wedding birdhouse? Seriously… I need one NOW, Please?

I am not into Bling and diamonds (though the one I’m wearing on my finger is FAB!)… so my wedding will be a little more rustic and earthy feeling. I thought this would be wonderful for a flower girl(s)… not that I’ll have two .. perhaps.





I do know that I’ll be having an evening wedding. It’s going to be a full moon night in 2012 so I thought stringing lights would be a beautiful way to decorate the reception space. These little pretties will have to be included in that!

Splashes of bright colors and cute phrases seem to be "in" this season. Originality mixed with tradition is what brides and grooms are looking for to adorn their weddings with personality and one of a kind pieces that people will use for years to come.

I love this idea of heart garland, not just because Valentines is 4 days away, but because this would be wonderful on the wall above the cakes, a whimsical way to put art behind us during our cake cutting photos, wouldn't you agree??




I am always on the search for stunning pieces for my bridal party, and since I haven't picked them out yet, I figure I have to find pieces that will look beautiful on anyone, this hairpin is PERFECT for all hair lengths and is one of a kind.



I had not thought about how I'd tell the world I was the new Mrs. Smith... but I think this way is kinda chic and a little cute. I mean.... I'll be off the market for good, why not introduce myself properly.





How CUTE are these?? I could decorate them up every season, little roses for Valentine's Day, Ornaments for Yule and best of all.... Pearls and the colors of our wedding for the anniversary. I am TOTALLY keeping these on my list of things I desire for the wedding.
