A wedding for the soul

Sept 1, 2012 was a Blue Moon.

“Once in a Blue Moon” seemed fitting for both of us, neither of us had ever intended on getting married to someone. Not because the past we had was so special or important, but because we are both very free spirited people, and the thought of being tied to someone that wasn't worthy seemed… like settling. So when we met, fell in love and moved into the life we have now, we were flying by the seat of our pants.

When we started talking about marriage we wanted to have both ceremonies together; Spiritual and Physical; however it didn't work for a variety of reasons, so we had to split them up. The plans we’d made were fun, but the fates stepped in and changed our plans, I’m pretty sure they just like to keep us on our toes.

We ended up in the middle of a Reservoir, floating in a canoe underneath the full moon and bright stars, making promises to one another in a very personal and quiet hand fasting ceremony.

That is the day my soul married my husband. It was the promises we made, the stories we told and the experience that made the private ceremony so special for us, like, eloping for the soul.

We decided our anniversary will be a week long every year. Sept 1-Sept 8.

Tie the Knot Thusday - 4/7/11

I learned many years ago that there are over 300 unique varieties of honey in the US. Ever since then I’ve been in love with honey. Trying it from regions of the world, different states and even combinations of simple varieties so I can say I’ve tried most of them. Bees are amazing creatures; they work hard all year and in the end, the come out with something beautiful. It’s a lot like planning a wedding, hard work before something beautiful comes out in the end.

I think these candle pails of beeswax candles are really cute! They would be lovely with a ribbon around them in the center of a tablescape for a farmhouse wedding. Cute, creative and one of a kind for guests to take home, or keep them and put them on the porch in the summer!

There is a tradition amongst many spiritual people that is called Handfasting. It is a binding of souls for a specific amount of time that is significant for many of us. I think these candles are the perfect way to bring the whole event together with handmade candles specific to your needs! I am thinking these will come in handy for me.

Tie the Knot Thursday - 2/17/11

I love the vintage look; it helps me feel like the love I found so late in life has actually been around years before this. And with the way Dave make’s me feel… it’s like I’ve been in love with him my whole life. When we finally say “I Do” and we are home once again.. I’d love to have these displayed above our bed as a reminder that we are indeed… the Mr. and Mrs. of the house.

A wedding birdhouse? Seriously… I need one NOW, Please?

I am not into Bling and diamonds (though the one I’m wearing on my finger is FAB!)… so my wedding will be a little more rustic and earthy feeling. I thought this would be wonderful for a flower girl(s)… not that I’ll have two .. perhaps.





I do know that I’ll be having an evening wedding. It’s going to be a full moon night in 2012 so I thought stringing lights would be a beautiful way to decorate the reception space. These little pretties will have to be included in that!

And now... the planning begins.

They met through pictures.
He with his son, a genuine smile and equally as loving was his sons.
Her picture was a bit coyer, glancing up before being given the chance to smile.

She was scanning, searching for anything that caught her eye.
The title, the picture and then the profile, Oh, he was funny, witty, self-deprecating without being negative.

Saying “Hello” was alright, she would just put it out there.
An hour later, he responded…
She was already asleep.

The anticipation of the morning e-mail, there he was.
Just as funny and curious about her, was she real? Was she like the others?
Yes… she had to be, there would be no reason she wouldn’t be.

They spoke back and forth electronically… then.. they met.

They met each other… finally their kids, the months passed, they met friends and relatives, they got to know one another slowly.

There was building and long exhausting nights before the families finally began to blend.

The kids squabble like siblings and laugh together the same. The parents fall into bed some nights too exhausted to talk and fall asleep with their legs intertwined.

Then one cool winter night the earth passed between the sun and the moon and hid the light. The stars have never been brighter. He’d brought her there to the place they shared their first kiss.

With the look of true love, words that will never leave her mind, he asked her to be his wife.

She said yes….. the new chapter has begun.

(It took me over a week to come up with what I wanted to say to my blogoverse friends. How do I hold a moment as special as this on my blog. I'd written this many months ago and never finished it... here is the revised version)

NO... this is not about me... but a friend... What if...?

Imagine this.... You meet the man of your dreams and he sweeps you off your feet.

You are courted, and spend days on cloud nine.

Then, you get engaged and start planning a wedding.

Money ~Time ~Family

Everything that can go wrong does.

So you decide to go to the court, sign the paper and be done with it.

Then a letter comes in the mail to you from your cousin, It starts off stating that she is worried that your husband to be is planning something for you that will anger you..

~He invited your friends ~Family ~Got the Flowers ~Cake

Saturday, instead of just signing a paper, he was going to marry you in front of everyone. Profess his love for you...

He's given you... a wedding.
