Tie the Knot Thursday - 4/14/11

This is my favorite day of week! I love doing Tie the Knot Thursdays, it gives me tons of ideas and I think Etsy has the best creators I’ve ever seen, what more could I ask for in planning a wedding than beautiful handmade items. That being said, I’m a Texas girl that purposely transplanted my heart and body in Colorado. I fell in love with this state when I was 16 and swore I’d move here one day, 5 years later I was here. My gypsy soul moved me back and forth between Texas and Colorado until 2000 when I finally settled here for good. I love that Colorado is full of all the things I grew up doing like camping, horses, trails, and outdoor life during all times of the year. So, when I got my Etsy Wedding article yesterday and it said “Boots and BBQ”, I actually squealed… it ties together all the things I love!!

This would be a great thing to hang on the wall after the wedding, a beautifully carved and painted reminder that love never truly ends and that we are prime examples of that. Then to see the writings of people I love makes it special.

My wedding has changed in my head over the past month or so. I’ve finally allowed myself to dream a little, started seeing things as a little girl would when she dreams about marrying the man of her dreams. So when I see rustic, shabby chic style items, my heart skips a beat. I know I want things like this for my guests to take home and remember us by.

With 7 kids there is a guarantee that that we have bridemaids and ringbearers. So when I saw this original piece of a birds nest (yep, I always go back to birds) I thought it was adorable! I want my ring resting in THIS nest.

Tie the Knot Thursday - 3/24 (White Weddings)

  

There is something about a white wedding that is classic, elegant and beautiful. Not saying that the bright colors aren't those things, but a white wedding, with white gloves and veil is iconic in the wedding world. That being said, I'm not a white wedding kind of girl, but these items should find themselves in my wedding none the less.

Fruit is sweet, full of life and a reminder that, like kiwi, it's always what's on the inside that counts. So these love pears are adorable! They are full of LOVE and made by hand. What a beautiful center table setting, betcha I could get my cake made out of pears and tie the whole thing together.

I love butterflies and when I was first planning this wedding that was the theme, bright red and sparkling butterflies. I've since moved away from the idea but once I saw these I thought they'd be perfect on the cake. Yes, they are wine glass butterflies but.. they WANT to hang out on my cake, trust me!

I love this necklace. I want it to wear after the wedding and pass it on to my daughters when they marry. I also love the artists words "The scratches are intentional, What heart do you know without scratches?"

No.. I was not one to dream about my wedding as a little girl. Yes, I did pretend to be a bride when I found a bit of tulle lying around. So when I felt this funny twinge today looking at veils I realized it. I want a veil. Not a modesty veil over my face, but something in my hair, something beautiful and... bride-like. After a while of looking I think I finally found it. Kinda pretty right?

I am not sure if I can even write after seeing the back to this dress. See it?... That is SOOO what I'm looking for in a back, I think I'm in love. AND it's eco-friendly. *faints*

Tie the Knot Thursday - 3/17

S'mores, a tent with a firefly lighting the way and the smell of wood burning in a warm circle of rocks reminds me of my childhood at summer camp, my first time camping alone as a rebellious and strong female (albeit a tad foolish) and now, the way it smells in our backyard when Dave and I start up the fire on a cool spring night.

 What if I had moss, some small flowers and a Hurricane lantern on the center of the tables instead of large arrangements of flowers that no one can see over. I want my guests to see one another in the candle light of a flickering flame.. there is something romantic, welcoming and even better candle light hides ALL your flaws.

How cute is this for my little summertime girls to wear with their dresses! My little toddlers are prissy tomboys which I LOVE. They will play in mud puddles in their dresses and honestly... dirt cleans off. All my kids know how to pitch a tent, get dirty and come home to enjoy a good warm shower. Enjoy the little things (like dirt and worms)....Wearing a dress and picking up sticks.. as long as you don't hit your brother with them, it's alright by me!

I am in love, move over Dave... this soap might take your place. Allow me to give you a tidbit of their description: "2 slices of 'life on marshmallows' handmade soap, scented with the delicious aroma of sweet, sticky campfire smores, and a trail of activated charcoal.". My darling friends... for my wedding gift, I'll be forever indebted to you if you give me ONE slice of life that smells like this for my shower. Oh My Gosh... I'm in love!

This is what love is all about, wrapped up in a cake topper. If you can camp with the wo/man you love, you can conquer almost anything!!
