I would love to learn how to sew.

I remember my Mom sewing a lot when I was a little girl and I also remember her stepping on the needle. The attempt not to curse and the tears were enough for me.

Yep…. From that point on I SWORE off sewing machines, scared to death that I would somehow tempt fate and get myself sewn together because I would never be THAT good.

Then I had daughters, and they had dolls. And I had a son, who I am sure needed a super hero cape. I also had a bird cage that needs a nice quilt over it so my birds sleep better.


When I saw the Personalized Name Pillows I fell in love. My mind started spinning on ideas for this

• Birthday

How could I not want to make one of these? The directions I got from You Can Make This E-Book were awesome. There are colored pictures, step by step directions and even a video of this.

Bloggy Giveaway is coming up!

It is that time of year ladies and gents!

It is what got me into blogging giveaways, the addiction of the Bloggy Giveaway. I do blame them for my obsession, and it's a good one.

I spend my entire week working on getting all of these done. I think I entered 500 contests three months ago, by the end it's a pick and choose. I find about three new blogs I love during this and subscribe to them, but for the most part, it's giveaway entry time.

So, put it on your calendars, buy some coffee... these are my 2am-3am nights. I stay up until I can't see anymore and finally pour myself into bed mumbling about my email address and "favorite" items from sites.

Luckily, I have the 31st off of work for a Halloween party that night, so on the 30th, and get a lot of them done.

I am excited, the holidays are coming, and I am hoping to gift some of these items to family and friends.

Still undecided on what I want to giveaway, last time I gave away a baby bouncy seat... this time... Hmmmm... It's still up in the air!

*I have met some of the coolest people from reading their posts or finding their blog. (Nydia is one of them, a wonderful Brazilian pagan mother who has a soul that is pure and genuine as the salt of the earth. If you read any of her posts you will feel the energy she gives off!)

*I like to dream! That is a lot of dreams.

*My friends know that during this week, I don’t leave my house except to work. (And I enter contests at work!) With over 900 entries three months ago, it’s a time consuming time!

*This time, I’m giving something away. I’ve been holding onto this for three months now… waiting, anticipating… I’m anxious to give it to someone who could use it!

I really hope to find some new people to add to my “Blogs I visit every day” list. (I slacked off for two days this week, and I felt bad, I read through everyone last night, though I mainly lurked. I think I’m addicted!)

Lipstick to Crayons

I just found an adorable blog I’d never seen before.

Over the past year, after baby #5, I realized that frumpy clothes and messy hair was not the sign of a put together mom. (I know… 16 years later) I work hard and love being a mom, but I also like being fashionable and stylish.

So… I got my Betty Page hair cut (I’ve wanted it for years) and now I’m starting on my wardrobe. Then, I started blogging and found a TON of great blogs that are for the fashionable mom. I found one today that is wonderful and is having a great giveaway.

Lipstick to Crayons is for Mom’s that believe we can have/do it all. It’s about working on ourselves because it helps us be better moms to our kids by showing them that Mommy cares about them, and herself.

They are having a birthday party and this year is the first one! So, I’ve decided to share something’s I’ve learned and memories about birthdays over the years…

a) My mom and dad always took me to IHop for chocolate chip pancakes the morning of my birthday. Up to my 17th birthday... I still have fond memories
b) I used to eat at Mama’s pizza (A pizza place only in Texas, the best Pizza ever) every birthday meal, since I am a July baby, we would have a party by the pool at my house!
c) The most fun game at middle school birthday parties is to make bowls of jell-o, put down trash bags, make the kids trash bag smocks, pull back their hair and have a jell-o eating contest. They will talk about it for years.
d) Kid’s birthday parties never turn out like you want. Best friends will hate each other; they will cry a lot (girls), if kids even show up. Make sure to have a cool back up plan in case their friends don’t show.
e) When a baby is 1, they don’t care… make a cake you can feel good feeding them. When a blog turns 1, they care a lot!!!!
f) Just because a child has a birthday on a holiday, doesn’t mean you can’t demand people show them the same respect they expect on their day of birth! Make it special, even if that child is 35. (My daughter is born on Christmas day, I think about her birthday all year round to make sure things are special for her)
g) My favorite gift I ever gave a kid was a “date” with my son. They went to Boondocks (a place here in Colorado that has bumper boats, race cars, laser tag, etc) for the day, ate, played and just had a great time. It was a fun gift and gave them one on one time and a ton of memories.
