Get it write here Journal #12

These journal entries are from Get it Write Here. She puts up journal questions, some simple, some complex however all of them will help you think about where you are, what you appreciate and look a little deeper inside yourself.

Finish this sentence: When I think of snow, I think of...

I'd seen snow before.. walked in it, played in it.. but NEVER in a state that I lived in.. not until I moved to Colorado when I was 21.

I was living in a 3rd floor apartment with three kids, my ex and two roommates. I hated Colorado, I wanted to go home to Texas, to my friends, my life, my family. I didn't want to be far away like that... And then it snowed. I was like a little girl, I ran down the three lights of stairs and stuck out my tongue, stayed out in it until I was shivering. Even now.. that snow warms my heart... though.. this past first snow was amazing. It was like it had been planned.

Dave and I had gone to dinner with my parents this past November. He was meeting them for the first time. My mother and I were pretty well lubricated on wine and martinis, and my father had eaten enough food that he had that perma-grin on his face. Dave had done well all night, they were in love with him... So.. good food... good drinks.. lots of laughs... and we stepped out side...

...the pathways were white, the snow glistened off the light from the light posts and we were all in awe. My parents are northerners who now live in Texas, so seeing snow is a dream come true for them. I will never forget the look on my mother's face, it still brings tears to my eyes. She looks up at the snow, like I did the first time I saw it.. it was as if it had been brought just for that night.. just for them.

What 3 things did you worry about this past week?

This week:

*I worried about Dave and I, how we were going to do the things we've been talking about. I realized it had to be one day at a time. I've put wheels in motion on my side, as has he... we are motivated and dedicated and can handle anything that comes our way.

*That some of the Valentine's gifts I'd bought wouldn't get here in time. I think they will.. by the skin of my teeth... blasted things!

*The economy, how things are going to end up before the up slope begins. I don't believe it is anyone's fault.. it's just how the cards played out. Instead of placing blame.. we need to find a solution!

Valentines Giveaway!!

I LOVE Valentines Day.

I love dressing up, putting on something pretty and getting ready for a night out.
I like to smell pretty, try out new makeup styles and that flutter you get when you want to show yourself off to the person you love.

So how do you prepare?

*Warm bubble bath with rose scented oils?
*Going to the hair salon for a new 'do and your nails.
*Getting out of your comfy's and actually putting on jeans and lipgloss?

However you get ready there is one thing that should shine... your teeth! Because regardless of anything, Valentine's day should make you smile. If he gives you a lovely gift, you are going to have to smile and plant one right on his lips.

So what do you do after dinner, laughing like you were first in love and making sure the kids are finally asleep?

....Dessert.

Yes.. that is what we are calling it today... Dessert.

Now what if you could have a Dessert that was wonderful for both of you? Exciting, fun and Oh.. so.. tantalizing?

That is what *I* am here for!

Rembrandt has sent me a wonderful package for one of my readers! A tube of "Intense Stain" Rembrandt whitening mint toothpaste and a Rembrandt Whitening strips for one of my readers.
Rembrandt Whitening Strips are used once daily for 30 minutes, in just five days there will be a visible difference. Strips conform to the unique shape of teeth and stay in place! (SRP: $24.99/ 7 days)

Rembrandt Intense Stain toothpaste contains powerful stain fighting ingredients to effectively remove deep stains from coffee and wine (SRP: $7.99/3 oz)

But.. that is not all...

They have also given me:

K-Y Brand Yours+Mine "intimacy enhancement" product. I LOVE that term.. that's a politically correct way of saying... It is fun in bed for BOTH! Modern and sleek test tube vials house the lubricants: Electric blue for him, vibrant purple for her, easy open caps and make sure you put them in the sun, the vials glow in the dark, so they are easy to find at night! Pretty cool huh?So.. without further ado... let's get down to the nitty gritty!

Little Miss Muffett....

.... sat at her computer desk.

Why?

Because no matter how tired a girl is... eyes fluttering closed, blissful thoughts of a warm naked body (your own) settling into some cool, clean sheets and dreams of melted chocolate rivers with floating marshmallows as rafts.... when you do the night time check... and find this..

Yeppers.. A Daddy long leg.. at the head of the bed.

What do you do?

Kill it?

What happens when you kill it, and then you only find ONE LEG?

You sit up and night and commiserate with your friends.. 'cause you sure as heck ain't goin' back to bed!!!

Get it write here Journal #11

These journal entries are from Get it Write Here. She puts up journal questions, some simple, some complex however all of them will help you think about where you are, what you appreciate and look a little deeper inside yourself.

~I took a little time off... I'm back on the band wagon~

Here are a few of the journal questions she asked over the past week or so. I'm not going to due them all due to space on my poor blog.

What bad habits do you have that you would like to change.

The way I handle money, how I can lose my cool, biting my nails and my distrust of people. Oh.. and the fact that I am insane! I lose things, forget things, don't put gas in my truck until I'm running out.. all of those lovely things! Luckily, Dave loves to save people.. because I can be a good candidate for that at times.

Write about something that makes you really angry!

Slow drivers.
I think my daughter learned how to say "sh*t" from me!
I can't tell if that is what she is saying, however, it would not surprise me.
I am a rager on the roads. I don't even highway drive very often, if I did... people would die.

What's your favorite comfort food. It can either be a food that reminds you of something or just plain makes you feel good.

Macaroni and cheese.
Period

What is a piece of advice you can share that you learned from your mother?

Always be a gracious hostess. My mother was always attentive to her guest, unexpected or planned, and she always had enough on hand that she could entertain if necessary. I don't do that now because of money constraints, however, if I could.. I would!

Walking in Pink

It is that time of year again.

Crisp Spring mornings are coming, hordes of women will be filing into Washington park making it look like a Pepto Bismol bottle exploded... or the American version of 99 Red Balloons.... to 150K pink balloons.

On April 26th I will be walking (Hopefully with 1 or more of my daughters, and anyone else who is coming to join... ~HintHint~ my Colorado friends. Men, women and children are allowed to come and walk, and are quite welcome!) for the American Cancer Society as the leader of the team named: Pink Lily.

As some of you know, this past year I had a scare with a lump in my right breast that ended in a biopsy and wonderful news of it being benign. I knew at a young age that I would start getting tested at age 35, and I am very thankful I did, with a family full of cancers, there is no reason not to have early detection and easier destruction of the cancer.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer are always needing donations for the cause. And of course, by raising money to support the American Cancer Society fight against breast cancer, they help fund groundbreaking research, public awareness campaigns, efforts to ensure all women have access to mammograms, and free programs and services that improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Over 50 million was raised by walkers last year, it was done one walker at a time.

Please go and view my personal page or my team page through the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, you can leave me a note, donate, or just see who I am walking for! (Margelina and Toni, make sure you both go and visit!)

Wordless Wednesday (My life, in a nutshell)

That's it... Google Calendar. It's the only way D and I can keep our life from going down in flames. We schedule it...

Please go and see more Wordless Wednesday's on 5 Minutes for Mom.

Thoughts... Tuesday

Here are some more thoughts for the first Tuesday in February.

Kenna and Larry- They came out of surgery this afternoon and all seems to be well. They are both so strong, this should go off without a hitch! Hopefully everyone can get together in a few months and I'll put up some pictures.

Jake- Dave's little man is sick tonight, stomach flu and the like. Think about him and send some warm healing thoughts... it could be a long night for my love and his little man.

Michelle and her lovely two children- Her husband Joe has left for a year long leave with the military. They will miss him dearly and it breaks my heart to hear how sad she sounds.

Baby Cora- This little one is going through chemo therapy.. warm thoughts for her family and for her! She will need the strength we can all send her!

Jaime- From Sticky Feet, give her sticking thoughts, that the pregnancy remains viable and strong! It would mean so much to her!!

Cynthiaa-
This loving Mommy was due to deliver her son in just 2 weeks. But today when she went to her routine doctor’s appointment she learned that her beautiful baby boy had passed away due to umbilical cord strangulation. Please, Please send thoughts to this family.. they need it so much right now!!

Today's Quotes are about planning...

I feel like much of my life right now is planning.
Planning for the kids future... Planning for my meals for the week... Planning for plans with my boyfriend...

Sometimes, I just need a little phrase to dance around in my head and encourage me. I've never been a planner, so this... this is new to me.

A goal without a plan is just a wish. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1900 - 1944)
~I need to remember this. Stop dreaming... Stop wishing... make a plan to the end goal!

Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood...Make big plans, aim high in hope and work. ~Daniel H. Burnham (1846 - 1912)
~My plans are momentous.. they are life changing and will alter the course I thought I had been on. They stir my blood, my thoughts and my heart! Without these goals.. I would stagnate!

Zeus does not bring all men's plans to fulfillment. ~Homer (800 BC - 700 BC),
~We must always remember that sometimes.. our plans aren't meant to happen. Due to time lines, schedules, or even the hearts and minds of humankind won't allow it!

Just because something doesn't do what you planned it to do doesn't mean it's useless. ~Thomas A. Edison (1847 - 1931)
~Not all things work out as we want, but we must make sure to give it a second look. Sometimes what we planned wasn't feasible!

Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action. ~Napoleon Hill
~This is the toughest one for me. Once I start... there is no stopping me, so I must be careful how fast I plan.. because once it's ON... I'm going full throttle!

He who every morning plans the transaction of the day and follows out that plan, carries a thread that will guide him through the maze of the most busy life. But where no plan is laid, where the disposal of time is surrendered merely to the chance of incidence, chaos will soon reign. ~Victor Hugo (1802 - 1885)
~My life has always been pretty chaotic... this might explain why :) However.. sometimes... you need the chaos to remind you why you are alive!!!!
