This weeks quotes are on doubt

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts. -Bertrand Russell
I find that there are certain people who believe so fully in themselves that they will not accept the fact that they might be wrong. That their opinions might not be as true as they believe they are.... however that leads into my next quote, which contradicts this one, though both are VERY true.

Doubt whom you will, but never yourself.- Christine Bovee
I suppose there are different aspects of doubt. In this I believe it means that you can not doubt your ability to do whatever you touch in life. You can doubt aspects out of your control, but not who you are.

I show you doubt, to prove that faith exists.-Robert Browning
I suppose this is true. I must doubt the things in my life that I am uncertain about, to prove to myself that I have faith in them. I must question and debate, even if it's to myself, just to make sure that *I* know I am on the right path.

Just think of the tragedy of teaching children not to doubt.-Clarence Darrow
I want my children to question everything, including me. History is written by the winners, doubt what you read, research it, make your own opinions, not opinions passed down by me, or society. If there was no doubt, the earth would still be flat, and Columbus would have been really confused!

Today's Quotes are about planning...

I feel like much of my life right now is planning.
Planning for the kids future... Planning for my meals for the week... Planning for plans with my boyfriend...

Sometimes, I just need a little phrase to dance around in my head and encourage me. I've never been a planner, so this... this is new to me.

A goal without a plan is just a wish. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1900 - 1944)
~I need to remember this. Stop dreaming... Stop wishing... make a plan to the end goal!

Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood...Make big plans, aim high in hope and work. ~Daniel H. Burnham (1846 - 1912)
~My plans are momentous.. they are life changing and will alter the course I thought I had been on. They stir my blood, my thoughts and my heart! Without these goals.. I would stagnate!

Zeus does not bring all men's plans to fulfillment. ~Homer (800 BC - 700 BC),
~We must always remember that sometimes.. our plans aren't meant to happen. Due to time lines, schedules, or even the hearts and minds of humankind won't allow it!

Just because something doesn't do what you planned it to do doesn't mean it's useless. ~Thomas A. Edison (1847 - 1931)
~Not all things work out as we want, but we must make sure to give it a second look. Sometimes what we planned wasn't feasible!

Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action. ~Napoleon Hill
~This is the toughest one for me. Once I start... there is no stopping me, so I must be careful how fast I plan.. because once it's ON... I'm going full throttle!

He who every morning plans the transaction of the day and follows out that plan, carries a thread that will guide him through the maze of the most busy life. But where no plan is laid, where the disposal of time is surrendered merely to the chance of incidence, chaos will soon reign. ~Victor Hugo (1802 - 1885)
~My life has always been pretty chaotic... this might explain why :) However.. sometimes... you need the chaos to remind you why you are alive!!!!

This week, I am doing my quotes on Fear.

I've noticed that this is the one area of my life I've allowed to take control and create havoc in all ways. I've almost lost to much to fear... that I need to learn when it's appropriate and when it's more damaging to my life and my future.

Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism. Confronting your fears and allowing yourself the right to be human can, paradoxically, make you a far happier and more productive person. ~Dr. David M. Burns
****First of all I need to accept my fears and understand that they are necessary. Without them I have no idea who I'd be, however it has kept me safe and kept me protected. I am happy person, I live my life well, now, I just need to conquer those few areas in my life where I am truely fearful.

Fear is a question: What are you afraid of, and why? Just as the seed of health is in illness, because illness contains information, your fears are a treasure house of self-knowledge if you explore them. ~Marilyn Ferguson

****This is so true, I have to search out the reasons for my fear so I can once again understand myself and gain control of my future. Without doing this I am no different than the woman I was a year ago.

Fear is that little darkroom where negatives are developed. ~Michael Pritchard
****This is so true. It creates negative for you, and for those around you. Fear is a disease that infects without prejudice.

Feel the fear and do it anyway. ~Susan Jeffers,
**** I need to get this tattooed right above my heart... as a reminder that feeling the fear is acceptable, and doing it is the expectation.

I am dreadfully late today on Quotable Sunday, in fact, it is now 1:07am on Monday.
BUT I AM HERE....

It's the thought that counts right? I'm fashionably late.. ~blush~

This week, is about food. Why? Because it is 1:07am, and I'm hungry. I lost 4.9 pounds this week and I'm celebrating, by thinking about food!

The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found. ~Calvin Trillin (1935 - )
~My children will say this about crockpots. I can make a meal every night that that thing.. I blame The Crockpot Lady. She is fully responsible for my crockpot addiction. Last night I made crockpot fried chicken drumsticks. OMG it was good! But I digress!~

Food is an important part of a balanced diet. ~Fran Lebowitz (1950 - )
~As tempting as it is not to eat when you are dieting, you must eat! So eat carefully, be waring of serving size. Five banana's foster dove chocolates, are 200 calories. Wanna know how I know? Because I looked, before I ate them.. It's all about serving size!!~

Food is the most primitive form of comfort. ~Sheila Graham
~When a fed child falls asleep in your arms WITH the bottle/nipple in their mouth, you realize the truth in this statement. A full tummy creates a safety to that little one. It never changes for us. When do you feel more fullfilled ... When you are dieting, or when you are falling asleep in front of the TV right after Thanksgiving dinner, your hand partially down the front of your pants to keep them off your growing belly? Yep... it's a comforting thing!~

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. ~J. R. R. Tolkien (1892 - 1973)
~This had to have been written for the Hobbits. Their ideas of second lunch, third breakfast and evening dinners were amazing. They loved life, I can only hope to get as happy, round and content with myself as they all seem to be. I'll wait until I'm 50, but then... the kid gloves are off and I'm enjoying my bottles of wine, my decadent foods and the most exotic chocolates I can get my hands on. Until then... I'll be cautious of my intake, and find my merrier world in that!
Never eat more than you can lift. ~Miss Piggy
~Hey.. Miss Piggy was a big beautiful ... pig. And she got Kermit the Frog! He was funny, skinny and a great public speaker! I'm thinking there is something to the Miss Piggy diet... !!

This weeks topic is, optimism. I think we all need those positive thoughts about the world we live in, and about ourselves! Keep thinking up.. and it's the only way you can go!!

Many an optimist has become rich by buying out a pessimist. ~Robert G. Allen
*How many times have you seen/heard of a pessimist giving up on something because they talked themselves out of it? I am sure, just as many times as someone has succeeded. It's all about state of mind!*

An optimist is the human personification of spring. ~Susan J. Bissonette
*It is much nicer to be the person who usually has something nice to say, than the person who constantly downgrades their life, themselves and those around them.*

The reason we all like to think so well of others is that we are all afraid for ourselves. The basis of optimism is sheer terror. ~Oscar Wilde
*We are our worst enemies! It's horrible the terrible things we believe about ourselves, usually because our thoughts are tainted by the negative words of others. Continue to be positive and become a naysayer of the negative ninny's out there :) *

For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else. ~Sir Winston Churchill
* Well said Mr. Churchill! Lets get rid of those negative thoughts and stay positive. Try it for one day... What can it hurt?*

Thank you for reading Quotable Sunday! I hope ya'll visit the other participants as well!

Quotable Sunday 1/4/2009

First Quotable Sunday of 2009.

The rules (for newbies)
~Go to your blog and post one or more of your favorite quotes.
~Go to A Daily Dose of Toni and sign mister linky with the link to your post and then go visit the other participants and leave some comment love.
~Spread the word of course...we want lots of Quotes to read :)

That means a new beginning, whether very little will change for you this year, we all need to do something different.

Save more money? Lose weight? Buy your significant other the gift that will light up their eyes (a new truck or that piece of art they have always wanted? Something that lingers in our mind all the time that we say, "I will do that one day". Why not this year? Why not start now?

No motivation?
Well that is what my quotes are about this week. Motivation!

My need for motivation?
* To lose 50 pounds, I have the six kids, I don't need a reminder every time I look in the mirror.
* Get my finances in order, I don't have much to do, but enough that keeps me from getting what I want.

"The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win."
Roger Bannister

~No one said that life will be easy nor will our paths be easy, however, we must continue on to win, against ourselves!~

"Self-determination is fine but needs to be tempered with self-control."Anonymous

~Do not go overboard on your endeavors! Take it in stride, and one day at a time, you will get there~

"He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." Friedrich Nietzsche

~You must remember everyday WHY you are on the path you are on. Honestly, the best reason of all.. for yourself~

I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacation with better care than they do their lives.Perhaps that is because escape is easier than change.
Jim Rohn

~My boyfriend taught me this. He had an.. "attack plan" for his life, and he's stuck with most of it. I never did, I've always lived by the seat of my pants... perhaps there is some validity to his way of thinking~

"If you raise your children to feel that they can accomplish any goal or task they decide upon, you will have succeeded as a parent and you will have given your children the greatest of all blessings."
Brian Tracy

~This is very important, they need to know they can succeed at anything they attempt, even if it seems impossible. This doesn't mean do it for them, however give them the foundation to do it for themselves!~

This week.. I am thinking about the future! With the new year up and coming I am looking forward to what is to come and what has laid out behind me. My future looks amazing, and I plan on bringing it in with a wonderful man, and a future of that starts with the first kiss.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The best way to predict the future is to invent it. ~Alan Kay
*******************
This is so true. I have found that waiting for my future is like waiting for the lottery without buying a ticket. I must invent it so that it can come to fruition.
*******************

The future, according to some scientists, will be exactly like the past, only far more expensive. ~John Sladek
******************
Oh yes.. it is going to be a much more expensive future, however I think I'm a bit better off to afford it :)
*****************

The future is here. It's just not widely distributed yet.~William Gibson
**********************
I just thought this one was funny.. as if the future was a book, that was coveted!

*************************************************************************

My quotes this Sunday are about Christmas. It's a holiday that many of us celebrate and it is worth mentioning since we are 4 days away and most of us have flutters in our stomach about it.

Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas." ~ Peg Bracken.

*~ I love the time I get with my friends this time of year! I have an annual Yule party (which is getting bigger every year) and it's a night where we all just enjoy the time with one another, little drama, great drinks, tons of food and gifts!

Christmas! The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given--when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes." ~ Joan Winmill Brown, American author and editor.

*~ I know a few people who hate the holidays, I can't imagine not having the feeling of the holidays in my heart for the month. I love it. I love wrapping gifts, imagining people's faces when they open their gifts and the morning rush to the front room seeing what "santa" has left them. It's a wonderful feeling of hot chocolate, peppermint and hugs... all in your heart!

The perfect Christmas tree? All Christmas trees are perfect!" ~ Charles N. Barnard, American author, travel writer.

*~ This is so true, though I must say.. in my heart of hearts, very few Christmas trees are as imprinted in my mind than this one will be. It's like a picture perfect image burned in my memory. Here is Dave dragging his tree to the truck!

I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month." ~ Harlan Miller

*~ What a beautiful thought... Christmas for a year.. once a month with your children, or even just the one you love... One day... One year I'll do this!

Which Christmas is the most vivid to me? It's always the next Christmas."
~ Joanne Woodward (1930- ), American film actress.

*~ So true... Having this be the first Christmas I have with my new beau, I know that the next one.. and the one after will be even better. We will know more about each other, we will have a full year of memories and another year to create our traditions. Not a Christmas has gone by that I don't love the thought of the next one.

Thanks for reading this weeks "Quotable Sunday".

Happy Holidays to you and yours! Warm Blessings and a fruitful 2009!
