Tell me Thursday (06/25/09)

This was a picture that I had adapted after his friend Daryl and Lacy’s wedding in May. Dave has said he wanted it framed…. So I did the next best thing.

I had it put onto canvas. No broken glass when they play ball in the house, no losing it in the shuffle of changing out pictures and age. This will become a wonderful memory for the two of them, father and son.

I found GeeZees through a bloggy friend about a month before Father’s Day.

The owner Stephanie Morris was amazing from the moment I sent the request form.
Within 24 hours I had three proofs and the option to choose what I liked and how I wanted it done.

After I tweaked it a little she started working on it.

I got it about a week later and fell in love with it. It is a sturdy design with strength in the wood that holds the canvas. I could not WAIT to give it to Dave on Sunday.

I had Jake give it to him for Father’s Day. (I was going to head over early and make breakfast for Dave. I didn’t make it… my little ones slept until 9am… who was I to deny the little darlings sleep?)

I can’t wait to find a wall to hang it on, and to add many more of the years of canvas printed photos!

Tell me Thursday (05/28/09)

I was chosen to be one of the photographers for the Green Festival here in Denver. It was a fun opportunity and I met some amazing people. Next time… Better camera, business cards and hopefully a garden.

These pictures were of a VERY cool “green” house called “Growing Spaces.” I fell in love with the dome, the style and the concept that I could grow year round in Colorado. I looked through their pictures and saw how fast things grew in this space. It has thought of everything, windows that open and close on their own depending on heat inside the dome, food protected from rodents and wandering hands and stunning vegetables grown by ME!

Now… I do not have one of these… it looks like next summer my guy and I will have a garden ready and growing in the back yard… but one day, I’d love my own personal “Growing Spaces” dome…with a hanging swing and a cup of tea!

Tell Me Thursday (05/21/09)

Two weekends ago Dave and I went to his best friends wedding in Sterling.

His son, was one of the ring bearers and I, of course, took a ton of pictures. I have pictures from beginning to end, trying on the tux, the rehearsal, the day of the wedding, getting dressed… everything.

Then… I got home and did my favorite thing…. Cropped and changed the picture.

This picture was a full body photo of Dave and his son; however I was drawn to their hands. I thought it was an accidental opportunity to make this moment magical.

It worked.

This is a moment caught in time… a moment that will be framed during those hard times, when his son’s hands are the size of his, when his son is spending weekends playing outside instead of inside watching cartoons.

A memory… of a beautiful day…

Tell Me Thursday (05/14/09)

As I was going through Wordless Wednesday posts yesterday I came across Tell Me Thursdays. I love the idea of know the story behind the pictures, so…. I am going to share mine in hopes more people join in and talk about theirs.

So... My picture was a simple Friday night date night with my boyfriend.

We wandered around Lowe's that night looking for a firepit. We had wanted something to relax in front of on cooler spring and summer nights. Living against the greenbelt he gets a great breeze in the back yard.

So then came killing the weeds in the backyard, him putting a roof on the gazebo, picking up the trash and toys and finally getting things looking a bit nicer back there.

After a long day of working, grilling some brauts and dancing to some techno (I was dancing in the kitchen ... he doesn't dance. Heh).... He got the firepit set up, some chairs out and we kicked back and enjoyed a drink and a nice night.

This was one of those... "After a long night have a Corona" kind of pics....

Tell Me Thursday (4/30/09)

As I was going through Wordless Wednesday posts yesterday I came across Tell Me Thursdays. I love the idea of know the story behind the pictures, so…. I am going to share mine in hopes more people join in and talk about theirs.

I am a busy mom, out of the house by 6:30am at the VERY latest, usually 6am-ish and I do not return home until 3:45pm if I am lucky, usually around 5:30pm with soccer games and evening meetings. My baby girls stay home and are watched by some friends of the family.

After 9-11 hours without Mommy, my toddlers are frantic to cling themselves to my legs and give as many hugs and kisses as they can get out before I can unravel myself from them. I drop my bags and head to the kitchen to get dinner out of the way.

Last week I was having trouble cooking and wrestling the little ones from crawling all over me. So I came up with a new system. Baby girl gets put in her high chair with her dinner and some pretzels with peanut butter, two year old yells out. “I will get the chair” (Which sounds more like “Ah, ge chir”) which she drags over to the stove. She gets a wooden spoon and stands there expectantly. She is my kitchen helper….

However, I have created a monster.

Now, she must have the chair, when someone is washing dishes, or making a sandwich, or even just getting water. She has an addiction… So… that being said… I want one of … these… It would make my life soooo much easier!

But until then… I have Issa next to me… cooking, talking and creating memories with Mommy.
