Decorate your holiday table with LTD Commodities

It is the holiday season!!

October starts the mad dash for decorating the yard to look spooky, cute and fun. Then comes November where I take down the scary and leave up the quaint and comforting, after that comes December where my house is coated in red, green and tinsel.

I fight with myself constantly over what “style” of house I want for the holidays. Something kid friendly with silly figurines and things hanging in windows, or something classic that makes people feel comfortable when they come in the door. Is there a way to do both?

Well, when it comes to my table setting, I spent this morning pouring over the products at LTD Commodities, looking for a cute way to decorate without spending an arm and a leg to do it. I loved

Cheap and Easy Halloween Wreath

I was on Pinterest the other day and saw an easy way to make a circle wreath out of PVC pipe insulation. That was the beginning of the end for me. Then I started to make plans... "Oh... I can make Holiday wreaths, sports team wreaths, cool things to hang on the front door."

It took me two months to finally conjure up a full idea of what I was doing.

Guess what? Two months took me right into holiday season.... was it my plan all along, NO... but it worked in my favor!

So I started with some cool cupcake liners that I fell in love with.

Then came along the cool bow making fabric.

Then the insulation foam became one with itself and the fabric was wrapped around (get two rolls) and taped together.

Simple so far right?

Then I added on this shabby chic look with the cupcake liners taped to the fabric and... LOOK..

I made a cheap, cool wreath to hang above mine and Dave's bed to bring in the season!

Simple and cheap.

Total cost: Less than 5$

Foam (3 pieces, I only used one): 1.99$

Cupcake liners (I still have tons left): 2$ a package
Fabric: 1$ on sale at Michaels



Halloween Party!

What a Wonderful Halloween we all had this past weekend!

Dave and I hosted the party at our house this year, and instead of the adult party I usually throw, this one was pointed towards the families.

His parents, his sister Kim and her four children (plus another), as well as my two toddlers were there. (Dan and Gretchen swung by for a little while and a few drinks!)

The menu included:

Mummy Hot dogs

Spider Deviled Eggs (Dave made these!)

Spiderweb Dip

Pizza Fondue

Mommy Crack (I’ve renamed this. )

Dipped Strawberry ghosts

For the pre-teen girls we got them a haunted house to create and a treat to leave a surprise gift on the porch for the owners to find their house “Boo-ed” in the morning.

We filled the bag with lotions, incense, a magnetic notepad, small planting pot and some candy. It was so much fun to watch them drop it on the porch and run away squealing. They have a lot to learn about this; hopefully next year they’ll have new crafty ways to do it!

The next morning we all had breakfast together. Waffles, bacon and sausage burritos with some Pumpkin Spice Lattes, it was such a lovely weekend.
