5 Minutes for Mom Christmas Giveaway

I really love 5 Minutes for Mom. They do the Wordless Wednesday , they speak from their hearts on many issues and I LOVE the interviews they do for BlogHer. In fact, I hope one year that I get to go, and when I do, I hope to get to meet them and interview with them.

(Right BEFORE The Bloggess... Why? Because I have girly love for her and because NO ONE should ever go after her… she’s too funny!)

This is the second year that 5 Minutes for Mom will be doing their Under The Tree, which is a way to give gifts to families in need. If you know of a family that might need gifts or a way to help their Holidays be a little brighter… please nominate them. Who knows what might happen.

They also do a Christmas Giveaway and this year looks like a GREAT start for gifts!

Wanna see what they have? Go visit, sign up.

Aloha Friday 11/6

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question is:

What is your dream job?
Are you doing it? Why not?

All I want for Christmas - Vision Bedding Bedroom

Dave and I moved in together August 1st, my kids and I helped with the remodeling of his house so we could get all of us in there. Dave has been in this house for 10-12 years and the master bedroom needs to be redone just as much as the rest of the place.

I got help from Alycia Wicker on designing the room as I’d like to see it. A Zen Retreat. I’ve taken down the crown molding, taken down the curtains and envisioned the room as it will look when we can get the time/funds to start redecorating.

One thing at a time right?

Here are the dream design pieces.

The color palette:

The first color: Behind the bed, Accent wall.

The second color: The rest of the room

The last color: Window sills, and trim around the carpet

The drapes will look like this:

And then pillows like this:

And

Duvet that looks like this

Oh… and artwork like these!

See what I mean? Zen like right? Some great shelves, candles that help pull us into a quiet space where we can hold onto our own romantic oasis. With 7 kids in the house, we need a sanctuary.

Here is what the room looked like when I decorated it for Valentine’s Day:

Not very Zen like huh? That is why the “All I want for Christmas” contest would be a dream come true for this room! It would make the room “ours”.

I won't be selfish, head over there and check it out! The deadline is November 17th! Perhaps you can win one of the three prizes they are offering.

Wet diaper, stinky feet?

We turned the clocks back on Sunday.

The girls have been waking up around 5ish thinking it's time to get up.

Into the girls room I went hoping to bribe them into another hour of sleep.

Issa looked up at me with those beautiful eyes and said...

"Mommy... LaLa's feet stink, she needs a diaper change"

It is gonna be a LONG Tuesday!

Halloween Party!

What a Wonderful Halloween we all had this past weekend!

Dave and I hosted the party at our house this year, and instead of the adult party I usually throw, this one was pointed towards the families.

His parents, his sister Kim and her four children (plus another), as well as my two toddlers were there. (Dan and Gretchen swung by for a little while and a few drinks!)

(The girls outside their dad's house on Saturday)

The menu included:

Mummy Hot dogs

Spider Deviled Eggs (Dave made these!)

Spiderweb Dip

Pizza Fondue

Mommy Crack (I’ve renamed this. )

Dipped Strawberry ghosts

For the pre-teen girls we got them a haunted house to create and a treat to leave a surprise gift on the porch for the owners to find their house “Boo-ed” in the morning.

We filled the bag with lotions, incense, a magnetic notepad, small planting pot and some candy. It was so much fun to watch them drop it on the porch and run away squealing. They have a lot to learn about this; hopefully next year they’ll have new crafty ways to do it!

(Even the best Halloweens have baby girl meltdowns)

The next morning we all had breakfast together. Waffles, bacon and sausage burritos with some Pumpkin Spice Lattes, it was such a lovely weekend.

I hope all of you had a blessed Halloween.
