The aftermath of infidelity - Review Post

Marriage, Intercourse, Infidelity, Divorce

Adults, Teens, STDs,

Education, Opportunity, Knowledge

We all have visceral response to at least one of these words. Why, because we can relate to at least one of the things above and have had our lives touched by the others.

We all have heard it; you get married, have a house, a kid and settle into some type of life, even if it’s not the one you always dreamed of, it’s there. Every relationship has its issues, the 7 year itch, the same old, same old, like hamburger helper every night or the same TV shows after work. Some people leave the relationship because the “meal has gotten cold” and some people don’t, but they have dessert elsewhere.

Dave and I we’ve both seen this in one or more of our relationships. The aftermath of infidelity is divorce, guilt, anger, resentment, finger pointing and silence. Then starts the reentry into the dating world, new people, experiences and finally, someone you want to settle into another relationship with.

No one teaches us these things, no one says… “Hey, when you get married be sure you get your ducks in a row before going to change your last name or you will cuss out a poor DMV clerk and walk out crying.” or “Remember to change things up once a month in your marriage to keep him/her on their toes.” Or “When your spouse of 12 years cheats on you with someone else, make sure you get tested for STDs before dating again.”

That last one is important, not just for you but for the person you have chosen to be with, it’s a peace of mind to rule out the plethora of diseases that can pop up through out our life.

Thankfully neither Dave nor I had unpleasantness that passed on to the other person, but we did discuss STD screening. We’d both been tested prior meeting one another so our relationship could flourish without concerns about our past.

I am participating in the Let’s Talk about STDs Campaign for RapidSTDtesting.com. I received compensation to facilitate this post. However, the views and opinions are my own.

Puristics Review

I had a dinner with a group of Mile High Mama’s the other day. We had our usual conversation that dealt with kids, adoption, green living and funny stories with husbands and friends.

My friend Lori asked me a question I’d never given much thought to, but was legitimate for most of us Mom’s. “How do you know that the items you use in your home are truly natural? Do the companies do their own research or should we be proactive in doing our own.”

BE PROACTIVE!

Most companies are concerned about the bottom line, if they can put a label on their product that states “Natural” or “Green” and people with buy it, you better believe they’ll put it on there. There are no strict regulations for products right now so you can not trust it without further research. In 2007 “The Green Guide” put out a list of dirty dozen chemicals for consumers to look out for when purchasing skin products. If you need help knowing what to look out for, I’d suggest you print out this list for the next time you go to the store.

When Puristics came to me and offered a natural purely ageless daily and nighttime cream I was skeptical. I did my research, studied up on their ingredients, used the product and after getting the full knowledge of the lotions I can tell you that it’s a company worth buying from and trusting!

The lotion has no artificial fragrances, colors, dyes or synthetics. Parabens and phthalates are also excluded from all their products. I can still feel them on my skin after being up for 7 hours and it’s not a greasy film. It is like having a layer of protection under your make up, with sunscreen and penetrating moisturizer.

If you are looking for a way to get healthier looking skin, don’t just take my word for it, Visit the ingredients on their site and then visit BeautyflyRX and see what each ingredient does.

Knowledge is power, and then if you like what you see, get some for yourself… I’d love to hear opinions and thoughts about this from you!

A Nighttime Routine and Book Reviews

The nighttime ritual in my home starts around 7pm. The babies of the family get something for dessert or a small snack before heading up to their rooms. We clean up the room ….. Wait…. I clean up the room; they see how fast they can come behind me and tear it up.

Then I push them into the bathroom for 15-30 minutes of bath time. They splash, sing, cry, hit, yell, giggle and brush their teeth before it’s warm hugs time as they step out of the tub.

Then we put on PJs, squeal a little and settle against the “reading nook” for a few minutes of reading. We read 1-5 books a night, depending on their attention span and my desire to read Dr. Seuss for the 100th time. (I must really stop reading Green Eggs and Ham with such passion… they LOVE it!)

So when I get new books I’m always very excited to get them settled in so I can pull them out like a newly discovered hidden treasure. (We really love to read!)

I read Snow the Race horse first. It is a cute book written by: Demi Clark and is a wonderful little tale of Snow and her friend, a race turtle named Tuga during a race with devious characters trying to slow them down. Snow’s family is a racing family that has taught her how to be honest and fair during racing. It is a great story to teach kids about sportsmanship and a supportive family.

Then we read Catty Wompus by Julie Howe. I love this book, my girls love this book, my teens and my boyfriend love this book. It is awesome to have such a great book about everything we all deal with. The “mean” girl, the one who looks pretty but speaks ugly and the pain that is causes everyone around her, most importantly her. Not only is the story of Catty Wompus something every little girl should read, it has some great artistry with in it. Beautiful clothing and faces, the hair is expressive as are the eyes, I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve read this book. It’s a MUST read for all families.

Our nighttime routine is one of my favorite times with my girls, and I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to review these books through Parent Reviewers. My opinion was not swayed in receiving these books from them.

Sleep Bear Review

I got the Sleepy Bear in the mail a few weeks ago…

Wait…. Let me start over…

Issa got the Sleepy Bear in the mail a few weeks ago.

(Issa was mad at me for taking pictures this day... yay for the terrible twos!)

I changed that because the bear and her beautiful baby bear have been missing for day now.

Have you seen them?

The Sleep Bear is the first stuffed toy that promotes Babywearing. The bears, the wrap are all organic and can be purchased for a real Mommy (or toddler).

Issa and LaLa both have a toy to share. See, Issa takes the Mommy bear and hands the baby bear to LaLa. LaLa will run off, play with the baby bear, until the little one gets tired. Then back into the sling the tiny stuffed bear goes, snuggled up with Mommy.

There are no removable parts, no eyes to pop out or noses that can hurt when they hit each other. (Yes, they are cute. Yes, they still get angry with one another!)

Want to help your little ones understand the concept of babywearing?

Want them to remember times with Mommy and/or Daddy?

Thanks a ton to Parent Reviewers for allowing me this opportunity to review Sleep Bear. Luckily Mommy Bear and Baby Bear were found safe and sound… under the covers in Issa’s bed.
