Tillamook Love Loaf Tour - Denver Zoo

We went to the zoo a few weeks ago with the three youngest kids to take advantage of the "Tillamook Love Loaf Tour" at the Denver Zoo.

The weather was perfect for the zoo and after getting some B*I*N*G*O cards we went inside to find all the animals on our list.

We found snakes, elephants (who are moving soon to the Asian Tropic, as soon as the exhibit opens) and even a Tillamook booth full of fabulous cheese samples. Yes, I ate a lot of cheese this day and the kids loved it.

Baby Loaf was waiting for us next to the booth so the kids got the opportunity to peer inside and see what's inside the little loaf. Pretty cute huh?

We got to see who was the biggest monkey. I'm thinking Dave won.

Then fed the birds.

Yep… the noisy, hot, sometimes smelly destination full of children. It’s one of mine and Dave’s favorite places to go to without the kids. We can hold hands, relax and see things without yelling the words “Don’t push your sister” or “If you stick your finger in there that Aardvark is going to eat off your nail”

We can walk around, smile at one another when we hear other parents mutter under their breath to their kids. It’s a quiet chaos for us... mainly because it’s not our chaos.

So, when the Tillamook “Loaf Love Tour” came up, I thought… “Self, what a fabulous way to have a date day, enjoy some fresh air AND participate in a Love Tour with a VW and cheese. “ Not many times that combination comes together… 1) Random Scooby-doo commercials 2) When the Tillamook 1966 Standard VW Microbuses are joined by The Loafster during the Tour that will hit Denver September 15^th – October 4^th.

(See... I wasn’t just making things up)

Share the “Loaf Love” with Denver-area residents, The Loaf Love Tour will be offering free admission to the Denver Zoo on Saturday, September 17^th for the first 200 fans who sport their brightest & wildest Tillamook Cheese orange.* (Orange-clad fans arriving after the first 200 tickets will receive $1 off admission.) Once inside, zoo-goers will have the chance to experience the Loaf Love Tour and receive cheese samples, coupons, play Loaf Love Tour bingo & more.

*Free entry for the first 200 eligible participants only. Free entry starting at 9:00 a.m. until limit reached. Participating fans may check-in at the Tillamook Baby Loaf bus located outside the main gates.  To win, attendees must be wearing orange. Limit one free entry per person, no monetary value.

So it’s a date right? Dave and I will be out there together holding hands and dancing deftly around children as they scramble for the peacocks. If you see us, come up and say Hi, take a photo with us… we love chaos.

Our Valentine's Tree

I was reading one of my favorite blogs the other day 24/7 Moms , they always have great ideas for decorating, planning and making a holiday the best with the help of your kids.

So... when I saw the Valentine's Tree l idea I KNEW it was something I wanted to do. 10 days later I finally got my Valentines Tree up and operational... Okay, at least up.

We started out our day by taking a walk on the trail behind our home, it is up against a greenbelt that is full of vegetation. It's the color of brown right now.. but that is the Colorado state color in the winter. :)


After we found our pieces we brought them home, laid them all out and spray painted them with some leftover pink paint we had.


The girls got a little bored and ran off to play, but I manage to steal some photos before they came back to inspect my progress.



We had to let them dry, so all of us piled in the truck to see some of these....

and play around at the zoo.


When we came home I tied them together and put them into a flower vase I had. I put rocks inside of the vase to hold up the vase and... there we have it! Instant Valentine's tree....


Tomorrow we are making ornaments. Anyone have cool ideas for those??
