Aloha Friday - 10/15

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question is:

How often do you read to your kids?
What is their favorite book?

I read to my toddlers every night. We go to the library once a week and do our best to immerse them into books. So every night is the same schedule. Bath, PJs, toddlers pick out two books each and we all read. Sometimes they are signing books, sometimes counting, Dr. Seuss or just silly books.

It's a wonderful thing for them and I can't imagine NOT doing it with them! I only hope it continues throughout their life, I was an avid reader growing up and it's not a horrible way to pass the time on a Saturday!

Their favorite book changed from "MaMa MaMa" to.... well, I don't think they have a favorite anymore. They love to read!

I try to read to my older kids every night...though my 7 year old now reads to himself. I try to read to my 2 year old daily but not before bed or naps because that made him cry when he heard the word "book" or "story" (so forget that!).

Here's the faves by age:
7 year Old: Captian Underpants or Star Wars
5 Yera Old: Dr. Seuss
2 Year Old: HIppos Go Bazerk

I LOVED reading growing up. I think my daughter is following in my footsteps. She has some books (like brown bear) memorized and reads them to herself, and she asks us to read to her at least 20 times a day!

I read with them every chance I get.

My oldest right now is a fan of Diary of a wimpy kid.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed your time at my blog. My children are all grown, and when my grandchildren come over sorry to say I don't read to them, but we all huddle on the couch and watch Disney Movies. Last time my granddaughter was here we watched The Little Mermaid. I also have a new meme, "Monday's Music Moves Me" hope you stop by and check it out and maybe even play along. It's tons of fun! Have a great weekend.

I read to my girls every day - all throughout the day. :)

We especially treasure our bedtime routine where I read a few chapters of a "chapter book" aloud. Right now, we're right in the middle of "Ramona Forever."

I read to my kids each night before bed. sometimes 2 or more times during the day. They adore books just like I do.

I know they love the Dr Seuss books but I'm not sure it's possible to have a fave book with all the books they love so much and beg me not to return to the library.

I read to my kids a few times a week. They like Charlotte's Web, Little House, Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary, The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books.

both my kids are past the 'read to' stage but we read to our oldest a lot more than we did our youngest and it shows. the oldest reads on her own a lot more than our youngest. sigh. if we could only do it all over again. (nice blog!)
