Naptime and your child

Naptime is different for every child.

My three older children, now teenagers, were all sporadic nappers, sometimes they would sleep for 2 hours, sometimes not at all. Then if I tried to put them down at a normal “naptime” they would throw a fit. It made daycare a bit of a nightmare.

As I had more children, I learned how to handle my children and what they needed. I just wish I had read a lot more. I was never a big fan of Dr. Spock, I always kinda thought he was a condescending kook. However, there were a lot more resources out there that had a ton of good things to say, unfortunately, I dismissed them.

New mom, mom of many or someone who watches kids should read a good amount of books. To get different perspectives and ideas from a range of men and women, my next book will be “The No-Cry Nap Solution: Guaranteed Gentle Ways to Solve All Your Naptime Problems” by Elizabeth Pantley

Here is a excerpt from the book:

“Naps take only a few hours of time, but naps – or lack of naps – shape all twenty-four hours of your child’s day. The quality and quantity of your child’s naps influence his mood, behavior, health, and brain development. Naps can affect how happy your child is when she wakes up in the morning and how easily she’ll go to bed at night. An appropriate nap schedule is a vital component for your child’s healthy, happy life. When you consider all of this, you’ll also understand that your child’s naps – or lack of naps – can affect all 24 hours of your day, as well as your child’s.”

Anything to help me get my kids to sleep, help their daycare worker and assist them to having a better day.

You can get the book at Amazon and Barnes and Nobles.

Her website is located here and she has some great ideas on it for helping your child and yourself out.

I am so glad to be out of the napt stage. This book would have come in handy a couple years ago...

Luckily I didn't have to leave my kids...I am not a believer in allowing them to cry it out. :/ I have heard good things about this book tho.
