Describe what you do to fight off negative thinking.
Negative thinking is something we all do. It just changes when we try to decide how long we will wallow.
I have my times when I throw in Missy Higgins, sit at my computer or lie on my bed and immerse myself in it. It usually takes someone to come along, turn off my speakers and tell me to snap out of it! Oh, and a great cry, the kind that hurts your stomach.
I also find that I do not handle people who are negative over a long period of time. I understand being in a funk over a few weeks, however, months, even a year? That is too long, you MUST pull yourself out of it, no one else can. We can help, we can build you the beginning of a bridge, but you must meet us half way.
*The world is out to get me
*I can’t do it
*How come this always happens to me
Stop… those thoughts need to go away. Only you can counter them.
*It is me AGAINST the world.
*I will do it
*This happens to me because the fates think I’m strong enough to handle it.
Anything to change your mindset.
Ice cream and chocolate works as well. It’s a temporary fix, but sometimes… you need it.
How about you? How do you fight those negative moments?
