This week my Quotes will be in memory of Bettie Page.
Her strength and desire to be a strong woman (even if she didn't know that is what it was at the time), will always live on in my thoughts.. so here are quotes about women.

***************************************************************************

"Because I am a woman, I must make unusual efforts to succeed. If I fail, no one will say, "She doesn't have what it takes." They will say, "Women don't have what it takes." ~Clare Boothe Luce

~I hear this time and time again. "Because women are so emotional, they will never be able to take control over business, etc." or "See, you can't lift that, women are the weaker sex".~

I see my body as an instrument, rather than an ornament. ~Alanis Morissette, quoted in Reader's Digest, March 2000

~*purrs* This quote alone makes my body shake. I love the strength behind it, and knowing that Ms. Morissette said it, just makes it more intense. She's a dangerous woman to defy!~

I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay. ~Madonna Ciccone

~For some reason.. Bitch seem to be the term that a strong, ambitious woman is called.~

You don't have to be anti-man to be pro-woman. ~Jane Galvin Lewis

~I agree with this, I spent many years being anti-man before I realized.. we all have our own issues to deal with... it's not fair to chastise men for things we as women do to ourselves.~

There is a special place in hell for women who do not help other women. ~Madeleine K. Albright

~This deals with the last one as well. Stop being our own enemies~

Women are not inherently passive or peaceful. We're not inherently anything but human. ~Robin Morgan

~I have 5 girls and one boy... nothing could be more truthful than this phrase!~

Some of us are becoming the men we wanted to marry. ~Gloria Steinem

~Oh... lovely phrase... Even prettier when I realize that the man I love, is a mirror image of myself~

Whether women are better than men I cannot say - but I can say they are certainly no worse. ~Golda Meir

~Very well said. Humans be humans.... regardless of what is between their legs~

Why is it that men can be bastards and women must wear pearls and smile? ~Lynn Hecht Schafren

~I pose this one to my lovely boyfriend. Understand that I can handle the "asshole" you are away from me, as much as I know you could handle the "bitch" that I am when I'm away from you... that doesn't mean I won't wear pearls and smiles, but remember that I won't hide the other side from you should she appear~

Easy is an adjective used to describe a woman who has the sexual morals of a man. ~Nancy Linn-Desmond

~Again... a lovely one to my dear boyfriend.~

Many beautiful women have been made happy by their own beauty, but no intelligent woman has ever been made happy by her own intelligence. ~Mignon McLaughlin, The Second Neurotic's Notebook, 1966

~Now what if you are beautiful AND intelligent~

I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naïve or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman. ~Anaïs Nin

~I end with this quote for a reason, because for once in my life, I've proven to someone that I am all of these things, and all the things people think about women, and I am still one of the strongest people I've ever met! The confidence he has in me, has proven to accelerate my drive~
