She Said- Part 2

We had connected over the phone. Talking until 2-3AM, I was a mess, exhausted but worth every moment.

How was I supposed to date? I had swore it all off, scared to death and who was going to want to be with a single mother of 6 children? (As amazing as they are, it’s a brood). But, something had brought us together and I was going to at least give it a try.

I was anxious and terrified as I got ready, driving to our meeting point I sprayed myself with Wild Honeysuckle body spray only to remember he wasn’t overly fond of floral scents… great… strike one.

I saw him drive up out of the corner of my eye, a large white truck and… ~gasp~ he’s cute!! The picture didn’t lie, so what is wrong with him?

I flew out of the car, as if it was my one and only chance, or I’d chicken out. There was that awkwardness, do we hug? Shake hands? Finally we both just got that silly grin and he said, “Get in the truck”

I remember cursing in my head. “Cowboy boots?? Really?” I swooned a little… Cowboy boots or kilts, I’m a sucker for them both and he had one down! Hmmm… could I get him in a kilt? Ok… strange tangent there.

I got the chance to study him on the drive into Denver; he was even better looking than the photo had shown. Nice skin, soft and well shaven, amazing lips (I am a lip girl), well groomed hair and multi-colored boyish eyes that matched the impish grin he gets when he’s teasing.

We had dinner at a local Moroccan restaurant, sitting on the floor surrounded by pillows our shoes kicked off and talking, for hours. We ate without silverware, messy fingers and exotic foods. By the end of the night we were comfortable, lounging back on the comfortable fabrics and laughing as if we’d known each other for years.

We had talked about “after” dinner; did we want to go to OctoberFest? We kept it open, in case the date went poorly; we wanted to make sure we had an out.

We did not need it; we were not ready to end the date…
