Ok... so here it is!

What a HECTIC life it's turned out to be.

Here is all is in a nutshell, NOT in order :)

#1 Happy EASTER!

I hope everyone eats alot of candy, hunts for eggs (and other things if they are out there), has GREAT weather like Colorado is having, and is spending time with family and friends.

Here is our personal Ostara pictures from Thursday. It was a GREAT night!!

#2 The new child.

Thursday night we finalize plans for Kara's friend Amber to spend the weekend with us. Her mother (I found out later it was her step mother), called and confirmed it was ok, and then she took the bus home on Friday with Kara from school.

That day it appears that the Step mother (while on the road to Kansas), got into a fight with Amber because of some issues with the school. Around 7pm Amber calls her, and she kicks the 17 year old girl out of the house, saying, "I can't deal with you, you need to get your stuff and move out." This isn't a bad girl, in the scheme of things. She's a virgin (pretty good for a 17 year old girl these days), she is an A/B student, she doesn't do drugs and she's respectful. She has a tough exterior at times, it's hard to get to her. I suppose she just needs to take time to feel safe, y'know?

This girls had a hard life, in foster care of the past 4-5 years. She had finally contacted her real father (her bio mother was a charmer let me tell you, needless to say they don't speak.), and moved in with him. After about three months the bio dad and step mom seperate, and bio dad moves to Oklahoma. So Amber has been living with stepmom ever since. This story is very similar to mine, and it hit a pretty hard cord with me, What was I supposed to do?

Interestingly enough I had signed up to volunteer at an adoption agency here in Denver on Tuesday. I wanted a way to give back to the system, and to find all the ends and outs of adoption/foster care, so that I could start doing it in a few years.

Life has an amazing way of throwing things in your lap to find out if you are ready... I'm ready.

Here is a few pictures.

Kara and Amber

Amber outside yesterday. Right before it snowed.

We told her that we didn't have a ton of money, but we were safe and that we were a large family so it was noisy. *laughs* I think she'll fit in just fine.

Ok.. I have to go. I am moving the rooms around so that we can fit another person in the house!

I'll post more later tonight!

~Warm Blessings,

Lilith

I can't imagine what Amber is going through, mentally. Bless her heart. I wouldn't have done anything differently if I were in your shoes either sweet. I KNOW I would have done the same. I just can't believe her father just left her like that. Did he give her a choice of going with him or staying? Anyway, the stepmom should be strung up for what she did. I don't give a rats arse if she is 17 or not, she's still a child. Your a wonderful woman Lilith and she knows it too. I hope everything works out. Just remember to take care of yourself as well. We spend so much time taking care of others, mentally and physically, that we forget ourselves. Big hugs to you and LOTS of love as well. I hope you had a wonderful day today! I ate WAY too much junk AND chocolate and I know i've gained at LEAST 5 pounds! Hey, I ain't complaining, it was ALL good!!! See you in a bit;o)
