Red beans and Rice - Our style

Red Beans and Rice -
Our Style


2 cans red kidney beans
1/2 a package of Kielbasa cut into 1/2 in pieces
1 spicy link cut into 1/2 in pieces
1 pound of ground spicy Italian breakfast sausage
2 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 medium onion
1 stalk of celery
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Boil in a bag rice (how ever much you need)

* Cook the ground sausage until fully browned, drain and pour into crock pot
* Add all ingredients except the rice.
* Cook on High heat setting for 4 hours. (or low heat for 7-8)

Serve over rice and with a salad for a complete meal

If you want:

* You can add 2 tablespoons of tomato paste.
* Add 1/2 cup of red or yellow sweet peppers at the end and cook for 1/2 an hour
