HughesNet Satellite

It was 1992 and I was running a BBS with my husband at the time. It was one phone line hooked up to our computer, and only one person could be on at a time. We had a message board, some DOS type games and a few other symbols made pictures. The coolest thing was when we upgraded from 9600 baud modem to a 14.4 modem. Yes, the speed was like chiseling Webster’s dictionary out of granite, it was slow, and so loud just to load a BBS, and forget about downloading any material, that alone could take 30 minutes if it was a good program.

When the “world wide web” showed up, we were all astounded. “How many computers does that take to run it?” Then, we fell in love, until the patience died, and we had to use dial up. Do you know how long it takes to dial up some of these websites? There had to be a better way.

High Speed Internet was born, and honestly I never looked back. It is faster, MUCH quieter and with four computers in the house we needed something that didn’t tie up phone lines, or cost an arm and a leg. (I am a single mom of six kids, I need ALL the money I can keep in my shrinking bank account).

Money is a large factor when it comes to an internet carrier, and finding a company that appreciates the need for internet in the home is necessary.

*School studies
*Small business
*Correspondence
*Entertainment
*Daily news

These are a few of the things that high speed internet can be used for, and without it, the process of loading a webpage can waste a lot of time. However, a lot of us don’t have access to the fiber, cable or DSL options that many in surrounding cities offer.

HughesNet Satellite is a solution that is available; all you need is a clear view of the southern sky. HughesNet uses advanced two-way satellite technology to give people another option for high speed internet. You can get a free Hughes: Net Info pack by email for information regarding their services.

Satellite Internet is very reasonable for home and business use, and you can get started today for as little as $0 upfront. They have plans for every type of usage from daily news and blogs to small business’ and their daily customer correspondence and interaction between sites.

HughesNet Satellite offers an e-mail account with Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus Protection. Small business’ need to make sure they won’t lose e-mail access, and time going through all of the unnecessary things that can clog up an account. They are an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau and have a thorough customer service that is more than willing to assist with issues you may have.

If you are still with dial up, and you are looking for another option other than what you have, go and check them out, see what they have to offer. Once you go high speed, you will never go back, and I accept cookies as a Thank You!

Back in the day, I was a BBS junkie. I ended up running 1 renegade BBS and 1 excalibur before the grab of the internet took hold.

It's refreshing to see the word BBS. It brings back a lot of good memories.
