Keep in your thoughts

Another weekly update on people I am thinking of today, I'd love it if ya'll would join me!

Nancy: My bloggy mom friend, roller derby girl, independent woman, and soon to be mother of a little boy named Karl. She is having some pregnancy issues and in the next 8 days there will be a lovely little man joining the world! Please be thinking of her for the next few weeks, she will need some good energy!

Dad (Ray): My ex-husband and I are best friends. We were not right for one another as a couple, however, as friends, I couldn't ask for a better one. His family became mine very quickly and I was close with his mother who passed away 6 years ago. I've always loved his father very much, so when I found out he had colon cancer today, it hit me a little hard. I am not scared of him going to be with Mom, I am scared of the ordeal he is about to go through, please keep him in your thoughts. He's a wonderful man!

Jim Lewin and his family: This is a selfless man who had a severe accident (though I am sure he would repeat it 10x over), he needs your thoughts as well! He is doing so much better, better than any of us imagined would be possible. Thank you for the thoughts you have given for this family.

That is who I have for now... or at least who is on my mind.

Update for Jim Lewin

We got such uplifting news this morning!

Jim Lewin, the grandfather who pushed his 10 day old grand-daughter out of the way to save her life in Littleton, Colorado has been taken off the respirator and spoke last night!

He knew who his wife was, and could answer a series of questions about his family.

It is so wonderful of his family to keep updates for all of us and Good luck to Mr. Lewin on more of his recovery.

A Sad Hero story

Grandfather still in critical after saving baby

This story is about a loving Grandfather who saved his 11 day old grand-daughter from a speeding truck on the streets of Littleton, Colorado on November 28, 2008. (This was the night that Dave and I went to Melting Pot with my parents, it must have been right around the corner from us)

"Lewin, known as Jim to his family and friends, was pushing his 11-day-old granddaughter, Sara, in a stroller at South Prince Street and West Church Avenue in downtown Littleton on Nov. 28. The city was hosting its annual Candlelight Walk and Tree Lighting ceremony.

Lewin's son-in-law Kris Miller says as they crossed the street, he heard a vehicle accelerating. Lewin was behind Miller with baby Sara.

He, with super-human force, tried to push the stroller out of the way," said Lewin's wife Carol. "And then he was hit."

Police say the truck dragged the 65-year-old approximately 75 feet before coming to a stop. " (taken from the 9 News website)

This is a horrifically sad story that could have turned out even more tragic had this man not sacrificed himself for his grand-daughter, his daughter's heart and the rest of his adoring family.

Please keep Jim and his loving family in your thoughts. They will need so much love this holiday season and beyond.
