In my youth I’ve done this trip alone or with my daughter sleeping in the back seat. A time before Ipods and CD’s that still skip when you hit a bump. I drafted rigs and had my share of scary gas station stops to go pee.
It is a time I remember fondly and now in my 30’s, I am excited to do the trip again.
I am going home to visit my sister and my parents, to witness my brother’s wedding and have the whole family together again. We are all in our 30’s now and have almost 10 kids between the three of us.

I am going to show Dave my hometown, the places I grew up and learned some of my best and difficult lessons. Where my father has taught school for 30 years, the high school I loved and hated, where I got hit by a car and the calm spot I go to in my head when things get stressed.
I plan on lounging in the pool and eating Mama’s Pizza, Having a greasy Whataburger and hearing the cicadas at night while having a beer with my folks.
I am going home…. Going to Texas to remember where I came from and finally showing the man I love to the world I left behind.
See ya’ll when I get back!
